Descriptions of Aerobics Classes
Call for times and dates or pick up a schedule at the member desk!

Absolute Abs– A short, but intense class focusing on the midsection, all exercises can be adapted for beginners. This class is great to pair with the morning cycling class offered just before the class starts.
All That Jazz–
This class combines elements from Jaxx, Hip Hop, Swing, and Latin! You do not have to know dance to participate. It's Also perfect for all ages: steps are easy to follow. This class is a perfect workout for people who want to work up a sweat, burn calories and learn some new dance steps. This class is designed to strengthen the body, improve cardiovascular fitness and enhance muscle tone.
Beginner Boxing– A great workout while learning boxing fundamentals: stance blanace, defense, offense and stamina.
Buff-n-Tuff – High energy cardio class combining floor, step and kickboxing.  Toning and killer abs finish off this great class.  
Cardio Interval– A cardiovascular workout using the step and weights, this is a great workout for all fitness levels!
Complete Cardio – Great cardiovascular work out, with a focus on the lower body.  Some upper body and abdominal work will be done at the end of the class.
Core Strength – This class combines yoga and Pilates movement to strengthen your core, improve flexibility, lengthen and tone your muscles.  Wear comfy clothes and be prepared to take your shoes off.
Gentle Yoga/Toning – This class is perfect for beginners and seniors. First and thrid Thuesdays of each month will be gentle toning. Second and fourth Tuesdays of each month will be gentle yoga.
Interval Step– Mixing it up with step and resistance exercises. The class will end with strong abdominal work (expect some planks)!
Interval Strength– Short segments of strength exercising coupled with toning exercises and light to moderate bursts of intense cardio segments, ending with low back and abdominal exercises.
Instructors Choice– Anything is possible!
New Beginnings– If you are new to aerobics or have oe been exercising for a long time, this is the class for you. In this class we will focus on getting your blood flowing and your heart pumping through aerobic exercise. The class will vary from basic step, to basic floor exercises. Class will begin with a warm-up and stretch and will be followed with guaranteed movement. At the end of your workout, you will enjoy a safe cool-down and stretch. The class will vary from week to week, but the fact that you are moving to a healthier you will still remain!

Power Circuit Training - 30 minutes intense muscular endurance class. 10 station faced paced workout. For all fitness level.
Ultimate Circuit - 45 minute class offering additional station to challenge the more advanced participant.
Cycling Circuit - Combining the best of both worlds; cycling & resistance training.
Group Cycling - Bring a towel and water for fun filled class! High-energy group exercise for men and women of all ages, abilities , and fitness levels. Not just a hard-core fitness program for outdoor cyclists. Improve aerobic and anaerobic fitness with minimal joint stress. No need to "stay in step", keep up, or compete. Ride at your own pace! Beginner through Advanced cyclists welcome!
So You Think You Can Dance, Total Body Workout – This class is for people who wish to attend ballet class once a week for fun and fitness in a relaxed environment. This class is suitable for all range of ages and experience levels from beginners to advance dancers. Class is structured to move at your own pace and incorporate classical ballet technique and lyrical dance. With bare exercises, center floor and across the floor comnbinations you will tone, strengthen and increase flexibility in the body and improve posture and grace.
Step, Butts, Guts– That's right! This class is just what it says. Maining focusing on strengthening your lower body, it's also sure to get yoru heart rate up!
Step-n-Sculpt– This class will be broken into cardio movements and segments of resistance with weights. The class will end with abs and a full body stretch, toning segment or cardio blast!
Step It Up– Great class for a total body workout. This class will get your heart rate up and your muscles burning! Beginners and people of all ages are welcomed.
Total Body Blast– This 1 hr. Class will be sure to get your blood flowing! It resemebles a group personal training session while incorporating strength/toning exercises as well as a high impact boot camp workout.
Total Body Toning– This is a great class for intermediates and seniors. The class boasts thorough toning with no high impact making it appropriate for multi-levels and all age groups! Another great class to follow the morning ride cycling class!
Totally Toning – This is a total body toning class using dumbbells, balls, and your own body weight. Join this powerfully effective class to get a great head to toe body sculpt. The class finishes with a great abdominal burn.
Turbo Step – This is a more advanced class, with more choreographed step combinations performed at a high pace, including resistance & abdominal work.
Yoga– A great workout without all the joint stress of a step or aerobic class, learn new yoga posistions and challenge your body's flexibility, strength and b alance. Also enjoy the calm and relaxing effect of more focused breathing. (This is not a pregressive class- beginners, as well as any level, can join at any time).
Yoga Stretch– A 45 minutes, no impact, total body stretching class combining deep all over stretches with basic yoga posistions. Increase your body's flexibility and decrease muscle tension while relaxing through these simple movements.
Zumba– Zumba fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalzing moves to creat a dynamic workout system designed to be fun and easy to do!

THE AQUATICS PROGRAM AT THE YMCA

Pool schedules can be picked up at the member service desk. 
Times for family swim and lap swim are listed.


Beginning Levels: All of these lessons last ½ hour

  • Sunbury YMCA Unisex Changing Area is near the pool entrance on the second floor.
    Waterbabies: Introduces safety awareness and develops pre-swimming skills in a fun atmosphere. Parent- child (6 mos – 36 mos)
  • Skippers: (Sunbury YMCA only) – for preschool age child with no water experience at all. Age 3-5
  • Pike:  This class is for the preschooler who has completed the skipper class or has some water experience. Age 3-5
  • Eel: This is for the child who can swim with her head above water without assistance or a floatation device at least 5 feet. Age 3-5
  • Stingray:  This is a transitional class from Eel to Ray.  We work with belts to build endurance and strength.  Age 3-5  SUNBURY ONLY
  • Ray: This is an advanced preschool class for children who can swim at least 15 feet without assistance or a floatation device. Age 3-5
  • Starfish:  This is the most advanced preschool swimming class with a focus on endurance and stroke refinement. Age 3-5

SUMMER AT THE YMCA ARTS CENTER
Kids Art Classes...Over 13 choices in camps, classes or one-day workshops are offered for kids ages 5-13.

Adult Classes are held throughout the summer months in the day and evening: Drawing, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Pottery, Jewelry, Lapidary, Quilting, Wood Carving.

    Saturday March 13th the Lebanon YMCA hosted the YMCA Level 3 State Gymnastics Competition. This was the first year that the YMCA has held a state meet for Level 3 gymnasts and we are proud of the three girls from the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA who were able to compete. Madison Fontana (pictured left) had a stunning 9.2 vault, which earned her 5th place. She also received a sixth place on the Balance Beam with an 8.8 and a ninth place on the Floor exercise. Her All Around score or 35.1 made her 6th in the YMCA State Competition. Veronica Bingaman, (center) took the 6th place spot with her Uneven Bar routine and she placed 11th in the All Around division with a 34.1. Angelina Feliciano,(pictured right) had a great 9.15 Vault which earned her 8th place, she tied with several others on Balance Beam with an 8.8 and received 7th place and produced a 9.15 Floor Exercise which placed her in 3rd. Her All around score of 35.1 made her 7th in the YMCA State Competition.

    Sunday March 14th was the YMCA Level 4 State Gymnastics Competition, which was also held at the Lebanon YMCA. Alexis Wary of the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA demonstrated her still with a Balance Beam routine scoring 8.95 and earning her a 4th place and a Floor Exercise score of 9.0 to place her in 6th. Her All Around Score of 34.3 put her in 15th place in the YMCA State Competition.

        I am a graduate of McCann Shool of Business & Technology with a Diplooma in Massage Therapy and an Associates in Specialized Business for Professional Massage Therapy. I have been Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork.
        I have had studies in Anatomy & Physiology and Kinesiology. Ih ave had training in Swedish Massage, Geriatric, Pregnancy & Infant Massage. I have aslo studied Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage and various Spa Therapies. I also have training in Reflexology, Myofascial Release, Reiki Level I, II and the Reiki Master Practitioner Level.

    RACQUETBALL

    Racquetball Policies and Procedures

  • Use of court FREE to members
  • Court time is limited to the 1 hour reserved unless the court is available.
  • Members over age 18 may reserve courts anytime during hours of operation
  • Non-members may not reserve courts.  They may play with a member who has a reservation. Guest fee charged.
  • Non-members playing w/o a member must pay a guest fee AND an additional $5 court fee.
  • Members  Age 13 –17 may reserve court time with the following exceptions: Mon-Fri  5-9pm , noon hour, and 6 - 8 am
  • No one under Age 12 may use the courts unless they have proper knowledge of Racquetball and have director’s approval.
  • Youth may only play in court #2
  • Racquets, balls, and eyewear are available at the front desk.
  • Protective eyewear is MANDATORY.
  • No black soled shoes allowed on the court.
  • No horseplay will be tolerated.

    Rentals at the Sunbury YMCA

    The Sunbury YMCA swimming pool is a great place
    to schedule your next birthday party!

    Hours for pool rentals:  Saturdays 1:00-2:00 or 2:15-3:15

    Add Kidspace or Giant Step to have your cake, food and party!

    The Degenstein Youth Center is available for older kids and larger sized groups.

    Kids can play air hockey, pool, ping pong and foosball.

    FYI - Did you know we offer a variety of Aquacise classes? Warm water is good for joints and stiff muscles. Ask for a pool schedule at the Front Desk.

    • Provides FREE supervised after–school activities for school age children. Youth can play pool, ping pong or play the latest video games dance on the DDR or do homework. The youth center is open to the public and a YMCA membership is not required.
    • Teen Leadership- This program offers teens the opportunity to build self-esteem and community involvement. Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm at the YMCA.
    • Primary mission is to help participants grow in mind, spirit and body while strengthening family life and community involvement.

    YMCA membership is NOT required to attend any Youth Center event.

    Every Wednesday evening the Youth Center will be open from 6-8pm. We will have a variety of activites such as Dodge Ball, Water Balloon Battles, Dinne & Movie, swimming and much, much more!

    Friday Night Dances
    During the summer months the Youth Center WILL NOT hold Friday evening dances. Dances will resume in September.

    Babysitting Course
    This course will provide individual instruction in the age range of 11-15 years information and the skills needed to be responsible for the care and safety of children in the absence of parents.
